Please accept this as a formal armouncemant that the number of candidates filing for office, for
the 2005 Municipal Election, is not sufficient to require a primary election as determined by 13-
14-115 MCA. The number of candidates needed to "lzigger" a primary election would have been
5 candidates in any one particular race or 4 candidates in at least 4 of the races on the ballot.
Neither of these numbers was reached.
However, pursuant to the same statute in subsection 4, the governing body does have the option
of calling for a pfiraary election if they so choose. In order to call for this primary election, a
resolution must b,e~passed not more than 10 da~ a.qer the close of filing. As the date of close of
filing was June 30 , the last day for said resolutiOn to be passed is July 10, 2005. If you choose
to not have the primary election, no action is required on the part of the City Council.
