SWIPING POOL CO~ITTEE
MINUTES OF MAY 12, 2005 MEETING
Present: Kate Stevenson, Marvin Carter, Cal Cumin, and Robin
Herman.
Also present: Brian Milne and Craig Canfield from Interstate
Engineering.
No public input.
Minutes of the last meeting be approved as distributed.
Brian reviewed the Power Point presentation we will use to inform
the public about what we have proposed as far as pool layout,
composition, and costs-both construction and maintenance. We
also need to talk to the newly-formed Tree Board about the
removal of some of the large trees; however, the layout can be
tweaked to avoid some or all of this removal.
The first phase of the project will construct everything under
the surface needed to create what we want ($1.51M). The second
phase will add the slides and store-bought features that are
still to be decided upon ($374,500). (The water play units are
simple to construct and perhaps some locals will volunteer to do
so.) Question about changing the design of the slides every once
in awhile-not necessary as kids grow out of this interest as new
ones grow into it. The third phase is the concession stands for
the pool and park area ($144,000).
Total costs: $2,110,000
Bond for: $1,661,000
Short: $ 449,000
We need to add in the funds we have in the existing swimming pool
construction fund, and we need information on the fees charged by
Rose Park, Big Splash, and the Big Timber slide-and put these on
a slide for presentation.
Kate will ask the Mayor when he wants this presented to City
Council which will affect when we go public with it.
Meeting adjourned.
