AN ORDINANCE ABOLISHING THE
ELECTED OFFICE OF CITY TREASURER AND
CONSOLIDATING THE TREASURE'S
DUTIES AND THE CITY CLERK'S DUTIES
INTO THE OFFICE OF CITY CLERK-TREASLrRER
IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED by the City Council for the City of Laurel, Montana, that
the LAUREL MUNICIPAL CODE is hereby mended to read as follows:

2.12.020 Elective and appointive offices
The officers of the city consist of one mayor, two aldermen from each ward. One
city judge, one-eity~-eam~, who must be elected by the qualified electors of the
city as provided in Chapter 2.28. There may also be appointed by the mayor, with
the advice and consent of the council, one city clerk-treasurer, who is ex officio
city assessor, director of public works, assistant director of public works, engineer,
maintenance director, public utilities director, and any other officer necessary to
carry out the provisions of this title. The city council may prescribe the duties of
all city officers and fix their compensation subject to the limitations contained in
the city ordinances and state law.
2.12.105 LMC is repealed at the expiration of the current city treasurer's term.
The elective office of city treasurer is abolished at the expiration of the current city
treasurer's term.
The office of clerk-treasurer shall assume all duties of the office of treasurer at the
expiration of the term of the current city treasurer. All reference to the office of
treasurer in the Laurel Municipal Code shall be amended to read city clerk-
treasurer. All reference to the office of city clerk in the Laurel Municipal Code
shall be amended to read city clerk-treasurer,
This Ordinance shall become effective thirty (30) days at~er final passage by the
City Council and approved by the Mayor.
