Nutting Storm District Maintenance:
Kurt stated that the Nutting Storm drain is always full of trees and weeds. The City does not have enough
manpower to constantly deal with the problem. He thinks that we should table trying to keep up with this
until the City has taken care of the storm drain system. He said that the City would continue to respond to
emergencies if needed.
Storm District- cost to City and cost to residents:
Kurt stated that it costs the City $15,000-$20,000 per year to maintain storm drain water. The funds for
this come out of the street maintenance fund. These funds are assessed to property taxes annually and
usually bring in about $500,000 per year. There was discussion on whether the City should start a Storm
Drain District. Currently, the City does not have enough manpower or equipment to clean the ditches and
the City does not charge property owners to tie into storm drains.
Dan Koch made a motion to make the council aware of this issue. Chuck Dickerson seconded the motion.
Motion carried 4-0.
WWTP Open House:
Chuck Dickerson made a motion to schedule the WWTP open house for September 23, 2015 from 5 p.m.
to 7 p.m. Cake and punch will be served with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Richard Herr
seconded the motion. Motion carried 4-0.
Street Project:
Kurt stated that the E. 8th Street project is finished. The project was scheduled to be completed by August
15 but was delayed by a few weeks due to some minor water issues from the high school sprinkler
system. No fees have been assessed for not having project finished by the deadline. ADA corners and
cross walks are being done at this time. This project is being funded by CTEP funds.
South Washington Ave:
Kurt stated that this project entails extending storm water facilities on this street. This project is currently
out for bid.
