Dear Members of the Laurel City Council, Mr. Mayor.
On behalf of Senior Helping Hands Program, Inc., and our clients in Laurel, l'd like to
thank you for your support of our organization.
Your contribution to our budget will help us to continue to provide much-needed services
to indigent elders in your city. As you know, Senior Helping Hands is the only home
health agency providing in-home assistance regardless of the senior's ability to pay for
the help s/he receives. Our organization assists those elders, who fall through the cracks
of the system, elders who don't have pdvate funds at their disposal, and who do not
qualify for services covered by Medicare or Medicaid. Many of our clients are unable to
contribute anything at all towards the cost of the help they receive through us, and
others contribute the small amount of $3 to $7 per hour.
Your c'~'s contribution will fully subsidize the cost of homemaking, transportation,
shopping, personal hygiene assistance, medication:management and nursing care for a
senior for at least a quarter of a year. For clients requiring less help, or those
contributing partial payment, the money will even go farther.
