February 1, 2005 Amount available for program funding is approximately $191,072.00. Programs targeting adolescents and women populations will be given priority. The grant funds may be used for the following service programs: 1. Community-Based Residential Substance Abuse Treatment Programs or, 2. Jail-Based Treatment Programs Community-based Residential Substance Abuse Treatment minimum requirements: • Length of stay is at least 6 months and no more than 12 months. • Provide best practice models of cognitive, behavioral, and life skills programs. • Monitor participant's progress and conduct outcome evaluations. • Provide urinalysis and/or other reliable forms of drug and alcohol testing. Jail-Based Treatment Program minimum requirements: • Length of stay of at least 3 months. • Demonstrate effort to separate the treatment population from the general correctional population. • Provide best practice models of cognitive, behavioral, and life skills programs. • Monitor participant's progress and conduct outcome evaluations. • Provide urinalysis and/or other reliable forms of drug and alcohol testing. --The--goal of--the RSAT _program _is_ to _r_eak_the cycle_of_ drugs and violence by reducing the demand for, use, and trafficking of illegal drugs. The objectives of the RSAT program are to: • Provide residential substance abuse treatment for offenders and their families. • Prepare offenders for continued care in community-based treatment that involves the family. • Provide case management to assure that the offender and their family access community-based support services. • Demonstrate program effectiveness and outcomes.
