Dear Mayor Olson,
Montana Disaster and Emergency Services, the Montana Association of Counties and
the Department of Public Health and Human Services, cordially invite you to attend our
38th annual Ggvernor's Conference on Emergency Management. The Conference will
be held in Hele0a at the Red Lion Colonial Hotel. This annual event is designed to bring
together our 10~al Disaster & Emergency Services (DES) Coordinators, elected officials
and first responders from all across Montana, the seven Tribal Nations, volunteer and
private sector agencies. The conference is an excellent forum for discovering emerging
issues in Homeland Security, Emergency Management and state government.
Our theme for the conference is "Planning, Preparedness and Partnerships". Invited
distinguished guests include Governor Brian Schweitzer, Governor of Montana and
representalives from the Department of Homeland Security and FEMA Region VIII.
Other attendees include members of the Montana Volunteer Organizations Active in
Disaster (VOAD), state and federal agencies and interested pdvate sector
representatives.
Registration will open at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, February 14th in the lobby of the Red Lion
Colonial Hotel. The traditional Governor's Conference on Emergency Management will
begin .at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 16, 2005. Governor Brian Schweitzer has
been invited as the guest speaker for the Wednesday Governor's Luncheon. An
additional training day is scheduled for Thursday, February 17.

pre-register by January 31, 2005 via the web site or by sending the registration form to

The 2005 Governor,s Conference on Emergency Management will be held at the Red Lion Colonial Hotel.
Helena, MT beginning on Tuesday - February 15a~ through Thursday - February 17, 2005. This year's theme i~

Association of Counties (MACo) Mid-Winter meeting and the Department of Public Health and Human Services.

o Governor's Conference - February 16th: A completed registration from is required. There is no
registration fee. '
o Workshops - Thursday, February 17th: (location to be announced)

INFORMATION for DES COORDINATORS ONLY:
':' REIMBURSEMlgNT: Eligible reimbursement (at the prevailing state rote) will be for: (1 .) the emergency
manager and one deputy from each DES District, (2.) mileage reimbursement will be limited to one vehicle
per jurisdiction. Those emergency managers who stay over and complete Workshop Track 2
'.'Communication Tactics" will receive reimbursement for additional lodging (if needed) and per diem. It is
maportant that you pre-select the workshop you want to attend. If you are considering air travel, make sure
the cost (including rmleage to and ~om the departure point, parking and shuttle semce) does not exceed the
allowable mileage reimbursement rate.
Note: Reimbursement for Governor's Luncheon
Since the overnor s Luncheon ts prod directly by MT DES for emergency managers, there will be no
reimbursement for that meal.
Have your county submit a bill to Montana DES for your lodging, per diem and travel along with a copy of
the reimbursement,,voucher submitted to your agency. Do not send credit card receipts.
.MT DES must receive all reimbursement requests no later tha~ April 30~ 2005 to qualib? fo,
reimbursement.
