AMENDING CHAPTER 15.40 OF THE
LAUREL MUNICIPAL CODE, TO ADOPT THE
FIRE CODE 1997 EDITION.
BE IT HEREBY ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Laurel,
Montana, that Section 15.40 of the Laurel Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as
follows:
15.40.010 Adoption.
The Uniform Fire Code, 4-994 1997 Edition, recommended by the International
Conference of Building Off~cials, and the Western Fire Chiefs Association, together
with any appendix or subsequent amendments or additions thereto, adopted or as may
be adopted in the future by the Montana State Building Codes Bureau, as applicable to
local governments, is adopted and declared to be the fire code of the city for the purpose
of regulating and governing conditions hazardous to life and property from fire or
explosion.
One fully printed copy of the code shall be an .file available in the offices of the
city ev~4ae~. The aforesaid, Uniform Fire Code is adopted by reference and made a
part of this chapter as fully, and for all intents and purposes, as though set forth herein
at length. It shall be known and designated as the "Uniform Fire Code" of the
municipality.
15.40.020 Updated references.
The aforesaid Uniform Fire Code, described in Section 15.40.010, is amended
by the additions, deletions and modifications set forth in the following sections of this
chapter.

This Ordinance shall become effective thirty (30) days after final passage by the
City Council and approval by the Mayor.
Introduced and passed on first reading at a regular meeting of the Laurel City
Council on March 2, 1999, by Alderman wa 1 ton
