Program Update
HOME Application Deadlin®
The next HOME Program application deadline is Friday, March 4, 2005. Applications
must be received in this office or postmarked by 5:00 pm that day. Potential applicants
are encouraged to contact HOME Program staff with questions regarding their
applications. HOME Program Application Guidelines and the Uniform Application may
be downloaded from our web site at http:llhousing.state.mt.uslHous_HM.asp. Click
on the "Docs and Other Info" link in the blue-shaded box on the right of the page to get
a list of documents to download.
Consolidated Plan
The Montana Department of Commerce submitted an amendment to the Montana
Annual Action Plan for the Plan Year 4/1/04 - 3/31/05 to HUD in November. The
Amendment reflects changes to cladfy the language HOME grantees performing
homebuyer assistance activities must use in legal documents (deed restrictions,
trust indentures, promissory notes, etc.) in the event of foreclosure.

The Montana Department of Commerce is accepting written comments on the draft
Five-Year Plan for 4/1/2005 through 3/31/2010 and the draft Annual Action Plan for
the Plan Year 4/1/05 - 3/31/06, both available on the Consolidated Plan webpage.
Comments can be submitted through December 15, 2004 to: Leslie Edgcomb,
Consolidated Plan Coordinator, Housing Division, PO Box 200545, Helena, MT
59620-0545.
Fair Housing Training
In December, Montana Fair Housing is offering training entitled "Promoting Equal
Opportunity and Access to Housing", a workshop providing education for property
managers, amhitects and developers, building code offices, advocates and consumers.
The City of Lewistown and Montana Fair Housing are co-sponsoring workshops
scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to noon and from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on December 14,
2004, at the Yogo Inn in Lewistown.
The City of Glendive and Montana Fair Housing are co-sponsoring workshops
scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to noon and from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on December 16,
2004, at the Jordan Inn in Glendive.
The morning session provides an in-depth discussion of the federal-, and state Fair
Housing Acts, including disability issues involving requests for reasonable
accommodations and modifications, and the applicability of the Americans with
Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as those regulations
relate to housing.
*The afternoon session addresses the design and construction provisions of the federal
Fair Housing Act Accessibility Guidelines and the relationship of those regulations to
state Building Codes.
The registration fee for the morning session is $30, the fee for the afternoon session is
$45, and attendance for both sessions is $60.
The workshops are approved for credit hours by the Montana Board of Realty and the
Montana Bar Association.
