COUNCIL MEMBERS PRESENT: Dick Fritzler Kate Stevenson Gay Easton Jennifer Johnson Doug Poehls Mark Mace Daniel Dart John Oakes COUNCIL MEMBERS ABSENT: None PUBLIC INPUT: None. CULVERT APPROPRIATION: Larry McCann stated that the culvert is on the west side of Alder Avenue, starting at Main Street and runs back two hundred feet to the north. We have had trouble with this culvert for some time. Last Thursday, the area was flooded when a local farmer was irrigating. If the culvert is not corrected, the water will go under the new street. Last week Nathan Tubergen suggested approaching the owner with the idea of sharing the cost of installing the new culvert. At that time, we thought that Cenex Refinery owned this culvert, but the Cenex Co-op owns the culvert. Larry approached the Cenex Co-op regarding the problem. They need that culvert in front of their drive approach, which is about half the length of the culvert. Cenex Co-op agreed to pay fifty percent (50%) and the City of Laurel would have to pay fifty pement (50%). The co-op does not want to cut back on the quality of the culvert, and they agreed to spend the extra money to install concrete culvert instead of galvanized pipe. The alley exit from the north side of the alley to Main Street is included, and a reinforced concrete approach to the alley will be installed. A meeting is scheduled for tomorrow' with the Department of Transportation. Our goal is to get MDT to continue the culvert across the highway, as those culverts are starting to cave in.
