HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. O04-05ORDINANCE NO. 004-05 ORDINANCE AMENDING CERTAIN SECTIONS OF THE "LAUREL ZONING ORDINANCE" LOCATED AT CHAPTER 17 OF THE LAUREL MUNICIPAL CODE. WHEREAS, Section 17.72.020 of the Laurel Municipal Code requires all amendments to the text of the Laurel Zoning Ordinance to be initiated by the City Council on their own motion or upon recommendation of the planning or zoning commission or board; WHEREAS, Section 17.72.020 additionally provides that no amendment shall become effective unless submitted to the zoning commission for review and recommendation prior to the adoption of such amendment; WHEREAS, the zoning commission reviewed and substantially prepared the proposed amendments to the Laurel Zoning Ordinance and recommends their adoption since the amendments are necessary and in the best interest of the City of Laurel at this time; IT IS HEREBY ORDA1NED by the City Council of the City of Laurel, Montana, that the LAUREL MUNICIPAL CODE is hereby amended as is set forth below. 17.08.651 Livestock units. "Livestock units," for the purposes of this title, shall be defined as follows: Livestock Class Livestock Units Cow, mature 1.00 Cow with calf 1.00 Bull, mature 1.25 Bull, yearling .67 Calf, weaned .60 Calf, under six months .25 Steer, one-year old .70 Steer, two-year old .90 Steer, three-year old 1.00 Heifer, one-year old .67 Heifer, two-year old .85 Heifer, three-year old 1.00 Horse, mature 1.60 .0__Q0 Horse with colt 1.50 Colt, weaned .75 Ewe, mature .20 Ewe, with lamb .20 Lamb, weaned .10 Lamb, under six months .20 Ram, mature .50 Goat, mature .20 004-05 ZoningAmend-ResidentiaITracts Goat with kid Kid, weaned Kid, under six months Hog, mature Hog, weaned Fowl: hens, roosters, ducks or similar Fowl: turkeys, geese or similar .20 .05 .10 .50 .20 .25 .10 .--50 .25 17.12.031 Suburban Residential (SR) Zone. This zone is limited to single-family residential tracts on a minimum of five acres of land and on which agricultural uses may be conducted with the exception that animal units shall not exceed ~q'/e ten per five acres (see "Livestock units" in Section 17.08.651). )rd. 96-5 (part), 1996. 17.12.034 Residential Tracts (RT) Zone. This residential zone is designed for single-family residential homes on a minimum of one acre of land r~t~fial-zo~&. Livestock is limited to two livestock units per acre with additional unils allowed per additional half-acre increments in conformance with Section 17.08.651 ofthi~ Ordinance. No livestock is allowed in the City limits, and all livestock must be removed when annexation occurs. (Ord. 96-5 (part), 1996). 17.56.70 Discontinuance NEW SECTION. If for any reason a nonconforming use ceases for a period of six months any new use must conform to the provisions of this title for the district in which the use occurs, and the nonconforming use no longer allowed. This Ordinance becomes effective thirty (30) days after fmal passage by the City Council and approval by the Mayor.
