Albert Ehrlick , a y McGee, Other's present: Sol COMMITTEE A quorum (3 or more) present the following action was taken by the committee: Rob Harris reported that the building at the cemetery is finished and the new floor installed. Now he would like to get started on installing the electricity and lights. He stated that Ace Electric would do it for $800 and could start tomorrow. Wally McGee feels that the bid is too high and we should get another bid from Alex Robertus. Motion by Marvin Carter to give Rob the go ahead (after getting a bid from Robertus) to accept the lowest bid and have the work done, seconded by Albert Ehrlick. Motion carried. There was also discussion regarding the purchase of a ground thawer. Rob stated that we had about $450 to spend. Several different types were discussed. It was suggested that 1possibly Stormont could build a metal shell.and we would have to buy a heater.. Sol said he had a heater the City pr could use until next budget year if there was not enough money available. Motion by Albert Ehrlick to have Sol check with Stormont to see what a shell would cost and also a heater with permission to purchase as long-as the total package does not exceed $450, seconded by Marvin Carter. Motion carried. The Rules & Regulations regarding the setting of monuments and markers were again discussed with additional changes being made. Motion by Marvin Carter to accept and approve the rules and regulations as set forth by the Cemetery Board, seconded by Wally McGee. Motion carried. (see rules and regulations attached) There-being no further business to come before the Board at this time the meeting was adjourned at 6:05. Respectfully submitted, Sharon Herman, Secretary Marvin Carter Lee Barndt, _ Sharon Herman Schoessler f RULES AND REGULATIONS. • We of the Cemetery Board, submit additional rules and regulations which will govern the placing and setting of monuments and markers on lots in the Laurel Cemetery. Where plots and lots have been previously started, the monuments or markers will be in accordance with the stones that have been previously placed. Monuments and markers for unopened sections in the Laurel Cemetery will be decided upon at the time the section is opened for burials. Any new plot or lot designated to be opened by the City, the following rules and regulations will apply to the setting of stones and markers: The base of the stone and foundation must be centered on the north and south lines of the lot. The following penalties will be assessed against any- one violating the above rules: Any party not abiding by the above rules will be sub- t f re-setting ject to a fine and the responsibility o he stone at his own expense. The fine for the above violation will be $100.00. is SPECIFICATIONS IN REGARD TO STONES AT CEMETERY No monument shall be erected on less.than two joining lots, which should be of natural granite and not less than two and one-half feet in height, excepting the monuments already erected. Provided monument may be erected on those single lots created in the family plot area. (6 foot alley- way) ¦ • Single head stones must be of natural granite and not more than 14 by 30 inches and set on concrete base extending 8 inches. Mausoleums and vaults above ground may be erected with the consent of the Cemetery Commission when all plans and materials have been approved by it. All work must be completed as fast as possible under the inspection of the caretaker;, and materials not used must be removed as the work is completed. All foundations shall be as.follows: 12" depth for all monuments, with an collar extending all around . 6" depth for all head stones and markers with an 8" collar extending all around. No monument, slab, coping, curbing, hedging or inclosure of any nature will be permitted in a single grave row. All markers for single graves shall be of natural granite.and not more than 14x30 inches and set on a concrete base that extends eight inches. Headstones shall be placed at the head of the grave and may be read from either the east or west at the discretion of the individual. No structures (monuments, head stones, foot stones, etc.) will be erected without prior approval from the Cemetery caretaker. All foot markers must be level with the ground. The Cemetery Board will stay within the regulations in regard to the type of stones to be erected in all sections. a) Foundation for marker shall be 8' in length, 216" in width and shall be centered between the side lines of the double grave. b) Foundation for marker shall have a depth of 6" with a minimum 8" collar extending all around the marker. c) Markers shall be of natural granite. d) Marker shall not exceed 518" or be less than 316" in length. Marker shall not exceed 14" or be l ess than 12" in width. DOUBLE MARKERS SINGLE MARKERS a) Foundation for marker shall be 4' in length, 2'6" in width and centered between t he side lines of the single grave. b) Foundation for marker shall have a depth of 6" with a minimum 8" collar extending all around the marker. c) Markers sh all be of natural granite. d) Marker sha ll not exceed 216" in length. Marker shall not exceed 14" in width. C? t .:: -4 REGULATIONS IN REGARD TO GRAVE MARKERS IN LAUREL CEMETERY SECTION G Section G - Bevel Style Marker Only shall be allowed. DOUBLE MARKER ¦ r a) Marker must be at least 42 inches long and no more than 68 inches long. b) Marker width shall be at least 12 inches and no more than 14 inches wide. c) Marker height shall be at least 6 inches but no more than 8 inches in back sloping to the front. SINGLE MARKER a) Marker must be at least 24 inches long and no more than 30 inches long. b) Marker width shall be at least 12 inches and no more than 14 inches wide. c) Marker height shall be at least 6 inches but no more than 8 inches in back sloping to,the front. Foundations shall follow regulations for all double • and single markers as previously set by the Cemetery Board. VETERAN MARKERS - Section G Veteran Markers that are used as headstones must be set on a slanted foundation. Foundation must follow regula- tions for single markers regarding length, width and depth of concrete. Veteran Markers that are used as foot markers must be level with the ground and set in a proper foundation.
