To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the provisions of the ICC Termination Act of 1995, 49 USC Part 14501(A),
you are hereby notified that effective August 18, 2004, Greyhound Lines, Inc. will
discontinue service to your location by discontinuance of the entire route or
discontinuance of your location as a stop. Please see the attached notice for route
information.
Since 2001, Greyhound passenger levels have declined dramatically along with revenues.
With the terror attacks of September 11, 2001, this revenue and passenger decline
accelerated, and cost increases in insurance and security created an additional burden for
the company. Greyhound must restructure its system to eliminate unprofitable and
marginally profitable service if it is going to be able to continue to serve the remaining
thousands of communities that rely on that service. The changes are also being made so
that Greyhound customers will receive improved service and a safe, enjoyable, travel
experience.
Greyhound is willing to coordinate with any governmental officials as they may seek to
develop or subsidize alternative transportation options. Please us know if we can be of
assistance in this regard or if we can answer any questions. Please contact the
