Council Chambers
Gay Easton, Chairman
Mark Mace
John Oakes
John Siljestrom
Lorraine Craig
Bill Staudinger
Motion by Mark Mace, second by Dave Siljestrom to approve the minutes of the October 16,
2003 meeting. Motion carded.
City Park Leases
There was a general discussion on the park leases for all city parks.
The leases for all city parks need to be reviewed and possibly restructured and then reviewed each year.
Mark Mace would like to get a list of all city park locations, facilities and/or buildings at these parks (if
any), and what parks have existing leases.
Dave Siljestrom stated that the "subletting" of some of the buildings at Riverside Park needs to be
reviewed. He will contact Steve Klotz, Public Works Director, for a list of contact people for all
buildings leased and located at Riverside Park.
John Oakes, Mark Mace, and Dave Siljestrom volunteered to be on the Task Force Committee to study
the parks and park leases, with Dave Siljestrom as Chairman.
Gay stated that there is a sample copy of a lease that the City of Helena uses for leasing out of their
parks. The committee will look at that lease sample.
lohn Oakes requested that the committee get a profile of each park as to how much money is being spent
to maintain them.
Lorraine Craig suggested that when the Park Task Force Committee starts to look at metering water at
each building in Riverside Park that only water used inside the facility be charged to the organizations.
Public Input
Bill Staudinger suggested that curbs in the area o£ Thomson Park and the High School football field be
painted yellow again for safety purposes,
Gay questioned whether or not the Public Works Committee should address an issue that involved
safety, or if the Emergency Services Committee should look it at. He will check into that and report at
the next meeting. There will be a meeting next month on July 12th.
The meeting was adjourned at 5:30 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Cheryll Lund
