Subject: 2004 District Meetings
Date: May 13, 2004
I have scheduled the 2004 District Legislative Meetings across Central and Eastern Montana for
the week of May24th. Changes are coming in Montana, and the 2005 Legislature may be open to
honest discussion of new and better ways of funding and managing city and town governments.
The League is also working on health insurance and utility acquisition programs that have
generated interest in most areas of the state. I am anxious to discuss these and other issues with
League members in Eastern Montana and to gather comments and suggestions that will go to the
Resolutions Committee that will put together the package of bills and policies cities will present
to the Legislature next winter.
The following is the schedule for next week:

9:00 a.m. Tuesday
9:30 a.m. Wednesday
District 04 2:00 p.m. Wednesday
District 03 9:30 a.m. Thursday
*District #2 2:30 p.m. Thursday
City Hall Lewistown
City Hall Miles City
City Hall Glendive
City Hall Glasgow
City Hall Havre
* (This meeting is intended for Chinook, Havre, Harlem and Big Sandy. A later meeting will be
held in Shelby for cities and towns in Triangle Area)
I encourage cities and towns to send representatives to the District Meeting in their area of the
state. These discussions are the first step in developing the Legislative package, and we need to
know your opinions to effectively represent your interests.

Dear League Membem:
I have attached the schedule for the District legislative meetings that will be held across Central and Eastern Montana
next week. As the announcement explains, important changes could occur in the 2005 Legislature. The District Meetings
are intended to gather comments and suggestions that will be the foundation of the package of bills that will be presented
next winter. We want to talk to the membem about problems and possibilities, and w_e hope t__hat your Mayom, Council
Members, clerks and other officers can attend the meeting in your district..
