AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 17.26.030 OF THE
LAUREL MUNICIPAL CODE TO UPDATE THE CITY'S ZONING
ORDINANCE WITHIN THE CITY OF LAUREL.
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to keep the Laurel Municipal Code current by
modifying and updating chapters, sections and subsections to address situations and problems
within the City and to remain in accordance with Montana law; and
WHEREAS, the City Council directed City Staff to modify the existing ordinance to
update the boundaries of the Community Entryway Zoning District; and
WHEREAS, City Staff prepared, reviewed, and approved the following amendment to
the existing Chapter 17.26.030 as noted herein and hereby recommends the same to the City
Council for their full approval.
IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED by the City Council for the City of Laurel, Montana, that
Title 17 is hereby amended, modified and adopted as follows:
17.26.030 Location of district.
The Community Entryway Zoning District (EZD) shall extend three hundred feet on
either side of Interstate 90 right-of way as it extends through the Laurel Zoning Jurisdiction
Area, an area that extends outside the city municipal limits one mile. Specifically, along the
interstate the EZD shall extend as described from the east limit of the
extra-territorial zoning boundary west to ! =- - ' :•:. e•• •- = •. - - -• . - -
- . • - - . - - -` - . . . - the limit of the west extra-territorial boundary to
• • --- .. , . ., . The district shall also include that area three hundred feet
on either side of the north extra-territorial boundary on Buffalo Trail Road south through Laurel
on First Avenue to where First Avenue turns into US Highway 212-310.
This Ordinance shall become effective thirty (30) days after final passage by the City
Council and approved by the Mayor.
Introduced and passed on first reading at a regular meeting of the City Council on April
21, 2015, by Council Member Herr.
PASSED and ADOPTED by the Laurel City Council on second reading this 5th day of
May, 2015, upon motion of Council Member Dickerson
