Broadway 4th Floor Billings MT 59101 March 8, 2004 I MAR l0 2004 j U_~,/ The Honorable Ken Olson CITY 0 F L A U R E L Mayor, City of Laurel PO Box 10 Laurel MT 59044 Subject: Yellowstone Historic Preservation Board Member Dear Mayor Olson: The Yellowstone Histodc Preservation Board (YHPB) recommends the reappointment of Paul Daniels, Jolene Reick and Armand Lohoff to 2-year terms on the board. Paul and,Jolene were both aPpointed to partial,terms in 2003 and are now eligible for reappointment to new 2~year terms' Oh the Board. Mr. Lohoff has completed his first 2- year term. Mr. Daniels is currently the manager of the Huntley Project Museum, Jolene Reick is a lan8scape arcl~itect for 'PeaEs to plaint DeSign, and Armand Lohoff is a retired history teacher. The YHPB also recommends the appointment of Paul VVhiting to the board. Mr. Whiting is a local Photographer who specializes in historic photographs. The Joint Resolution between the City of Billings, the City of Laurel, Yellowstone County, and the Crow Tribe for the Yellowstone Historic Preservation Board allows each organization to appoint a member to the board. Laurel's representative to the Yellowstone Historic Preservation Board is Dr. Don Woarner. Dr. Woerner's term expires December 31, 2004. The remaining five (5) of the nine (9) members on the Board be appointed jointly by the four goveming bodies - Billings, Laurel, Yellowstone County, and the Crow Tribe. It also requires that three of these five joint positions have professional expertise in the disciplines of history, planning, archeology, architectural history or other historic preservation-related discipline such as cultural geography or cultural anthropology, or own a historic property, serve on a local Preservation Board, or serve on the Laurel or Yellowstone County Planning Board. These appointments have been previously been approved by the City of Billings and YellOwstone COunty. Your review and consideration of these applications is appreCiated. Additional information regarding this project will be provided to you in the future.
