Dear Mr. ~otmson:
At your request, Northern Industrial Hygiene, Inc. (Northern) has reviewed the letter dated
October 16, 2003 that you received from the State of Montana, Occupational Safety and Health
Bureau, Safety Section. As you recall, this letter summarized the on:site visit by state
representatives, the results of their sampling effort and recommendations for additional work.
Our firm has ~ex_tensive expe[ience in b3ailding inspections, mold investigations and a long history
of ~w0rking With the State of Montana. Our team of Professional Engineers, Environmental
Scientists and Technicians has been called upon to investigate a wide range of mold contaminated
properties, including healthcare facilities, commercial properties, federal, state and local building
and residential structures. In addition our team has extensive educational background in the
areas of building sciences, mold inspection procedures and data interpretation. We also have
sponsored and conducted several mold awareness seminars in Montana and northern Wyoming.
After a thorough review of the facts presented in the letter, it is Northern's contention that the
problem as stated is manageable and correctable. To fully understand the extent of the mold
~ontamination and to formulate responsible recommendations, Northern will have to visit the site
to inspect each area of concern. The purpose of this inspection is to determine the magnitude of
the problem, the extent of the contamination, the source(s) of water intrusion and other building
related information. A detailed mold remediation plan can then be developed for presentation to
area mold abatement contractors.
