Dear Bud,
At the recent Montana League of Cities and Towns convention in Billings I learned that many
of the participants were eager to pursue a health insurance pooling concept as a vehicle to
provide a traditional health plan and self insured pool to make affordable health insurance
coverage available to Montana Cities and Towns.
The Montana Joint Power Trust is such a pool, and as a Montana City or Town, you are
eligible to participate in. The MJPT has been around since 1981 and initially, it was offered
only to Montana Counties but has since been changed to include Montana School Districts and
Montana Cities and Towns.
The success of the MJPT Pool is evident by the participation of over 1,900 Montana
employees. The track record of this pool is due in large part to:
Low operating overhead. Less than 8% of premium.
Negotiated discounts with over 800 Montana providers.
Ability to custom design benefits or duplicate current plan.
In house case managers who act as a patient advocate by working with patient and
provider to provide the best outcome.
Fast claim tm around. All claims processed in Montana.
If you would like more information on the MJPT or would like to receive a premium quote for
either a traditional plan or a partial self funded plan, please contact me.
