RE: Congratulations

Dear Mayor and Council,
As you may have already found out, Laurel's CDBG grant was approved for full funding. Your
grant was also the first I've ever seen to get perfect scores in all categories (with the exception of
financial need, which is beyond an '
yone s control), and ranked #1.
Criteria 2-Need (125 points), scored high because of work by Mary Embleton in obtaining
insurance records for sewer back-ups and excellent presentation in the engineering report by
Momson Maierle. The engineering report by Morrison Maierle was given the highest score
possible by the reviewers for Criteria 3-TechnicaI Feasibility (100 pts). The City received perfect
scores also in Criteria 1-Community Planning and Needs Assessment (125 pts); Criteria 4-
Community Efforts (75 pts); and Criteria 7 Implementation and Management (125 pts). These
last three scores reflect the City's dedication and financial support for assessing the community s
needs and capital improvements planning.
Since the project will use federal 2004 dollars, the project cannot be started until congress
approves the 2004 budget. We will keep you and Morrison Maierle posted.
Thank you again for the opportunity to work with you and the City of Laurel, and congratulations
on the CDBG award of a half a million dollars.
Sincerely,
