The chairman stated that he would like to focus on specific areas from last night's meeting, mainly city lighting and chip sealing. Larry was called into the meeting for input. Discussion followed, during which it was clarified that the Eighth Avenue project will be funded completely by the state. Don informed the committee of the cash balances in the Gas Tax Fund and in the Street Maintenance Fund as of February 28, 1999. Bud asked Larry for a list of streets that need to be chip sealed or overlaid this year and the costs involved. He also asked Larry to bring information to the council on costs to put in new lighting districts. The city has a COPS Grant on hold. Bud stated that, if the School District would be willing to make a long-term commitment to pay for half of another officer's salary in exchange for having the officer work at the schools in a special "Adopt a Cop" program, the COPS Grant could be used to get this arrangement started. More discussion ensued with few changes to the preliminary figures. The meeting was adjourned at 8:50 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Acting City Clerk-Treasurer
