MINUTES OF MAY 10, 2001
Members present: Kathryn Stevenson, Bud Johnson, Gay Easton, John Smith, Kathleen
Baumgarmer, Start Jonutis, and Cai Cumin. Also present: Mayor Chuck Rodgers and
Councilman Mark Mace.
The minutes were reviewed and approved as presented.
Cai reviewed the contract with Fischer and Associates for the streetscape of South 1 st
Avenue; this contract for $7,990 has been signed as per the direction of the last OC
meeting. Members commented that Sandy needs to meet with business owners along the
strip and also to plan to include the area of the interstate off-ramp in the scope of work.
The OC also wanted Sandy to look at doing a design for the south side of Main Street
extending from Railroad to Alder Avenue. This is a large project and a detailed scope of
work costing $21,000 was presented. After reviewing the proposal, Kathryn moved and
Kathleen seconded that it be approved; motion carried. The Committee did want to dress
up the project with a name that embodied the goal of the TCSP and downtown planning
area effort. This was deferred to the next meeting but ideas may include something like
LAUREL 2005, MAIN STREET TOMORROW, yada yada.
Cal provided copies of changes in Laurel's PUD ordinance and will discuss it more at the
next meeting. This is what Mr. Neuman must follow if he pursues the subdivision
development he reviewed with us at our last meeting.
A motion to approve an invoice from Cumin Associates for $440 was approved.
Fischer and Associates will be at our next meeting to show the base maps prepared for
the streetscapes and to discuss ideas involved. Cal will also present more code changes.
