BUDGET/FINANCE COMMITTEE
MAY 5, 2003 6:45 P.M.

The Budget/Finance Committee meeting was called to order by Chairman Olson at 6:45
p.m.
The minutes of the April 15, 2003 regular meeting were approved as submitted.
April claims totaling $657,947.27 were reviewed and the committee unanimously
recommends approval by the council.
The following purchase requisitions were reviewed and approved:
GENERAL FUND:
Human resource training session - mayor
Public defense - court
$ 1,252.00
$ 668.27
FEDERAL EQUITABLE SHARING FUND:
Used 2002 car for police and training
$10,000.00
WATER FUND:
Aluminum sulfate for water treatmem - plant
Connect LRL Park to water & install curb box - system
Curb box supplies - system
78' 8" water main for Meadowood Apts. - system
$ 2,783.15

SEWER FUND:
Hook-up to existing sewer main manhole for Meadowood Apt - coll. $ 5,900.00

The Comp/OT reports were reviewed for pay periods ending 4/13/03 and 4/27/02.
The Payroll Registers for PPE 4/13/03 totaling $113,700.17 and PPE 4/27/03 for
$113,459.34 were reviewed and the committee unanimously recommends approval by
council.
Mary distributed copies of the two proposals containing several options for the
server/hub area. Due to time constraints, she asked that this be postponed until the first
Budget/Finance meeting in June. She also informed the committee that the City/County

Planner contract had not been mended or extended for the current fiscal year, and that
will be coming forward as a "housekeeping" measure.
Other issues discussed included an announcemem by Mayor Johnson regarding new
legislation concerning the open meeting law. The new legislation applies to all local
government boards, committees, and commissions. An opportunity for public input must
be included on the agendas, and posted in the same manner as the council agenda,
effective immediately. Chairman Olson stated that the next Budget/Finance agenda will
include the public input item.
The next meeting will be on Monday, May 19th at 6:45 p.m. The meeting adjourned at
6:55 p.m.
