As part of this grant they planned and are sponsoring several Friday Fun Night Activities for 6~, 7t~ and 8 graders at the Laurel Middle School. The first fun night was held on January 17. Over one hundred students attended the event, which featured a variety of activities including music, challenge games, food, beverages; and prizes. Several more Friday Fun Nights are being planned for th/s school year. They will be held from 6-8 p.m. at the Laurel Middle School. February 28, 2003- concurrent actMties will include a hattie of hands featuring 6 local groups, a movie, board games and a Ping-Pong tournamem. Food, beverages and prizes will also be provided. · March 28, 2003 · Apffi25,2003 Research indicates that giving studems a sense of being cormeCted to their school and teachers outside of the regular school day reduces the incidences of discipline and enhances the student's performance in s:hool. Buainesses, service organizations ..... HOW CAN YOU HELP?? We could use help with plannhtg, chaperoning, food donations, prize donations, or $$. We would love to continue offering our community youth some st~nctured, positive, recreational activities.
