AMBULANCE COMMITTEE
MAY 18, 1998 3:00 P.M.

The committee discussed the current ambulance fee schedule. It has
been at least four years since we had a rate increase and the
committee felt it was needed. A resolution will be presented with
the new fees.
Discussion regarding co-response by the ALS ambulance from
Billings, American Medical Response. Medicare now allows only the
transporting ambulance to bill for the trip. When we have a co-
response situation, we are allowed to bill ALS codes at the higher
rate and reimburse the ALS ambulance service.
The committee studied the fee schedule, the Medicare manual
regarding procedure codes and the 1997 Supplier Fee Schedule for
Ambulances. With this information the committee tried to arrive at
a new fee schedule for ALS co-response calls. Cathy will try to
get more information from AMR and Medicare.
The committee also discussed a contract with AMR. Cathy will have
the City Attorney work on this.
