Grants of $150 each are available to support Arbor Day celebrations in Montana's communities. The grant funds may be used to purchase trees, refreshments, Arbor Day t-shirts, handouts or other items to enhance the celebration in your community. Communities with the Tice City USA designation since at least 2001 are eligible for an additional $150 for a total Arbor Day Grant of $300. Eligible communities include Anaconda, Billings, Bozeman, Broadus, Butte-Silver Bow, Fort Benton, Great Falls, Hamilton, Hardin, Harlowton, Havre, Helena, Judith Gap, Kalispell, Libby, Malmstrom Air Force Base, Manhattan, Missoula, Pelson, Red Lodge, Ronan, Roundup, Shelby, Sheridan, Sidney, Twin Bridges, Whitefish, and WlutehA Please limit one per community. Applications must be on file in the Missoula office of the Montana DNRC by 5.00 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2003. They may be delivered in person, mailed or faxed. All applicants will be notified the first week of ApriL In the event more applications are received than funds are available, successful applicants will be randomly selected. This is a reimbursement grant, which means that the grantee cities must submit copies of paid invoices, with check numbers, in the amount of $150 to receive payment for the grant. Participation requires a 35% match in cash or in-kind donations by the grantee. Records to substantiate at least 352/o must he tr nt on file. The successful applicants will be sent a report/accomplishment form and sub-grant form to sign and return. Payment will be made upon receipt of these items. Montana joins most other states in annually celebrating Arbor Day on the last Friday of April - the 251i, however, trees and planting conditions don't honor calendar and many Montana communities choose to celebrate Arbor Day at differeat times. Enclosed are an Arbor Day Grant Program Application Form and an Arbor Day Proclamation. I strongly encourage your community to apply.
