Letter from tile Secretorp:
I would like to take this opportunity to apologize
to any business out there in wifich I have not set
up a ribbon-cutting session. If your business has
not received a ribbon-catting, please notify me at
628-8105. Businesses do not have to be
Chamber members in order to receive a ribbon-
cutting. The purpose ofrlbbon curings are to let
people know that where you are located and
Mint type of business you have.
I would also like to invite any business to host a
Business Afl`er Hours event. These events do net
have to cost a tot of money. Sometimes, less is
better. In order to host a Business Ager Hours,
you would have to notify the Chan~ber and the
Chamber in turn will do a press release with the
date and time in the Laurel Outlook. If you
would like to send out invitations, the Chamber
can provide the address labels of the Laurel
businesses and/or the Laurel Chamber members.
You do not have to be a Charuber member
business in order to host one of these eveots.
Refreshments do not have to be served, but if
they are served, these cml be as simple as coffee
and cookies, er wbatever you prefer. The focus
of having Business After Hoars events is to give
the rest of the business owners a chance to see
your business and the products or services
offered, and get to know you better.
If you have business cards, brochures, er any
other items, please let the Chamber get these out
in our relocation and visitor packets. Located in
the visitor information center is a Community
Directory in which spots are available to
advertise your business. These spots are clear
pockets that hold a half-shcet size paper in which
you can display whatever infoiwaation you would
like about your business. Shelves and h'oehure
racks are also available in which you can display
your brochures and business cards. It has always
been the goal of the Chamber to reconm~end the
Chamber-member businesses to anyone needing
your products or services.
I would also like to invite all to join the
Chmnber. Membership dues are the lowest in
the state, possibly the nation. The membership
dues can be paid on an annual, quarterly, or
monthly basis. Dues are based on the size of the
business, type of business, and the number of
employees. The Chamber uses ~he money from
the membership dues to pay the secretary's
wages, maintain the Chamber office, visitor
information center and mini museum as well as
the costs to run the Chamber.
