ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 12.16 OF THE LAUREL MUNICIPAL CODE
RELATING TO AUTHORITY TO REMOVE OBSTRUCTION.
WHEREAS, changes have been recommended to bring the Laurel City Code into
compliance with state laws; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the residents of the City of Laurel to pass such an
ordinance;
IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Laurel, Montana, that the
LAUREL MUNICIPAL CODE is hereby amended as is set forth below.
Chapter 12.16.070 shall be amended as follows:
12.16.070 Authority to remove obstruction.

If the obstruction required to be removed by the notice of Section 12.16.060 is denied,
and the owner, occupant or person controlling the matter or thing charged with being an
obstruction, refuses either to remove or permit the removal thereof, the city shall
commence in the proper court an action to abate the same as a nuisance, and if the city
recovers judgment, it may, in addition to having the same abated, recover one hundred
dollars for every day such nuisance remained after the notice, and also costs in the action.
This ordinance shall become effective thirty (30) days after final passage by the City
Council and approved by the Mayor.

PASSED and ADOPTED by the Laurel City Council on second reading this 3rd day
of December ,2002, upon motion of Alderman Oakes
