FFY 2002 HOME Program Applications - Second Round
The deadline for second round of applications for the Federal Fiscal Year (FFY)
2002 HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) grant applications was
November 1, 2002. Eligible applicants were local governments (including
entitlement cities), certified Community Housing Development Organizations
(CHDO) and Public Housing Authorities. The Montana Department of Commerce
received 11 HOME applications requesting $4,053,931 in HOME funds. When
combined with other leveraged resources, including local match, the cost of the
proposals total $18,876,210. Awards for the second round of funding will be
announced in December 2002.

The City of Shelby will use HOME Program funds to undertake a program of housing
rehabilitation, focusing on rentals and serving homeowners demonstrating high
need. The City of Shelby will use HOME Program funds to provide homebuyer

Skyline Lodge Rehabilitation consists of 1) installation of a second elevator needed
to accommodate an emergency gurney, 2) redesign and replacement of faulty
plumbing, 3) replacement of the aging boilers and water heaters, 4) potholes in the
driveway and parking area that have made the area dangerous for those with
mobility problems will be filled and recovered, 5) the dining room will be expanded to
meet mandated ADA requirements, 6) deteriorating corridor carpeting will be
replaced, 7) sidewalks that have become dangerous will be repaired and replaced,
and 8) eight units will be converted into handicapped-accessible units.

Iow income housing above commemial space. The Acme renovation meets the
highest priority need by providing new affordable rentals to lower income and
