Re: Ordinance governing sdr,3o! speed zones
Dear Sits:
It has come to the attention of our organiza~on that the school speed zones as currently written in the
City Ordinance are not defined as they should be. We would like to take this opportunity to voice our
concerns on this subject.
We believe that the school zones should be extended to a radius of two blocks around all school
effect will be a major detement ~to speeding offenders. The current zones as pasted create confusion
for ddwrs who do nH lm.o~ where. Re speed zone. ends. The instst[ation of sJg~$, staflffLg end of school
zone would be highly effective.
Your consideration of tt~ above concerns are greatly appredated by this argan~zation. Our mare goal
is the safety of our chih:lren. At West Elementary, Eighth Avenue and Sixth.Slreet are.heavily traveled
by students on the~ way to and from the schoo! and in many places them are no. sidewalks for the.
children to utilize. Please give this matter the attention that it deserves for the safety of our children.
Remembering that it takes a community to raise a child, your role is very important in this ssue Thank
you for your time.
Sincerely,
VVest Elementary P?A Board
