Discussion regarding the COPS Grant we received for another police
officer. The Budget/Finance Committee will review hiring another
officer during the 1998/99 budget process. The grant for the first
COPS grant officer will expire in October, with a possible
extension to January of 1999. Then the City is suppose to keep the
officer on their police force as a full time officer. Not knowing
what the future tax revenue will be may make it difficult to hire
another officer.
There is a movement now to get an initiative on the November 1998
ballot to cut property taxes in half.
Larry mentioned that the city has a chance to sell some old
electronics equipment from the sewer plant for $2,000.00 to a water
plant in Wyoming. This equipment would probably not bring that
much at an auction, so he would like to sell it now.
Motion by Gay Easton, seconded by Gary Temple to recommend
that the city sell the old electronic equipment. Motion carried.
The overtime report for PPE 2-25-98 was reviewed.
The committee reviewed the February claims and recommended that
they be paid.
