Budget presentations
· Jan, Steve, and Cal are scheduled for budget presentations at the council workshop
tonight.
· The enterprise funds and clerk/treasurer budget presentations will be scheduled soon.
Department head attendance at committee meetings
· Department head or a representative needs to attend department head meetings.
· Public Works and Emergency Services Committees propose policy recommendations.
Budgetary or administrative questions should be directed to the mayor. Budget
questions may go to the Budget/Finance Committee, depending on the nature of the
issue.
· Discussion regarding Library Board spending policies.
· Mayor stated that the spending authority was raised in February; it is necessary to
follow purchasing policy to spend budgeted money now.

· Communication with residents of the City of Laurel is vital.
Discussion regarding the example - The City Link - distributed by the City of Billings
in the Billings Gazette
Suggested time frame to do a similar insert in the Laurel Outlook:
1. Place an ad in the Laurel Outlook one Wednesday in July to explain the insert that the
City of Laurel plans to distribute;
2.The Laurel Outlook would do a story about the insert the next Wednesday;
3.The insert would be in the paper on the following Wednesday.
Full-color, 4-page insert would be $606 plus $20/per page setup fees
City of Laurel would do 2 - 4 inserts per year
Department heads need to update the previously submitted newsletter information and
give it to Cindy by July 12th.
· Jan reported that Wheeled Coach has agreed to refund the money for the sway bar.
