COUNCIL CHAMBERS Members Present: Dan Dart, Ken Olson, Dan Meats, Lauren Van Roekel, Pat Kimmet, Charlie Pratt, Mayor Johnson, Ambulance Director Faught and Police Sergeant Zuhoski Minutes of May 20, 2002 stand as approved. Ambulance Service Jan reported that the resolution to reimburse ambulance attendants with over one year service full cost of EMT training was passed by the Laurel City Council. Jan also reported that the resolution to raise ambulance rates was passed by the Laurel City Council. Care 2 ambulance is down for repairs. That only leaves Care 1 for ambulance response at this time. Dan asked Jan if Matt Erekson has received correspondence back from Wheeled Coach concerning our open invoice with them. Jan indicated that she has not heard of any new news. Police Mike said that the Laurel Police Department was ready and staffed for the Fourth of July. Mike also reported on the burglmy incidences of vehicles in which some hazardous materials were stolen from the trunk ora car. Mike said that the materials were very volatile and reacted negatively with metal, air, water and other gases. Mike said that they had a description of a vehicle with a partial plate number to go on at this time. Open Discussion Dan Mears reported on a simulated airplane disaster training program that he participated in as an observer. He emphasized the need for agencies in Laurel, Billings and Yellowstone County to be able to better communicate with one another. Laurel residents Jean Stablefeldt, Ruth Bathurst and Peggy Cook asked the committee for a feline control ordinance. Dan Dart appointed Jean, Ruth, Peggy, Pat Kimmet, Lauren Van Roeckel and himself to a subcommittee to study the problem and discover solutions. Lauren asked if we had any feedback concerning the 9 P.M. siren. Dan is going to contact the Laurel Outlook and run a series of advertisements asking citizens to attend the July Emergency Services Committee meeting to discuss siren options.
