June 4, 2002
A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Laurel, Montana, was held in the
Council Chambers and called to order by Mayor Bud Johnson at 7:00 p.m. on June 4, 2002.
COUNCIL MEMBERS PRESENT: Lauren Van Roekel Doug Poehls
Ken Olson Mark Mace
Gay Easton Daniel Dart
Dan Mears John Oakes
COUNCIL MEMBERS ABSENT: None
Mayor Johnson asked the council to observe a moment of silence.
MaYor Johnson led the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag.
MINUTES:
Motion by Alderman Mace to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of May 21, 2002,
as presented, seconded by Alderman Dart. Motion carried 8-0.
CORRESPONDENCE:
Montana Department of Commerce: Memo of May 15, 2002 regarding Consolidated Plan Annual
Action Plan/Annual Performance Report.
Montana Department of Administration! Letter of April 17, 2002 regarding audit findings.
Montana Department of Transportation: TransPlan 21 Update of meeting schedule.
Montana Department of Transportation: Letter of May 24, 2002 regarding Speed Limit Study
Requests.
International Institute of Municipal Clerks: Letter of May 22, 2002 regarding earned designation of
Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) for Mary K. Embleton.
CONSENT ITEMS:
· Claims for the month of May 2002.
A complete listing of the claims and their amounts is on file in the Clerk-Treasurer's Office.
· Approval of Payroll Register for PPE 5/12/02 totaling $113,552.69.
· Receiving the Committee Reports into the Record.
--Budget/Finance Committee minutes of May 6, 2002 were presented.
--City Council Committee of the Whole minutes of May 21, 2002 were presented.
--Emergency Services Committee minutes &May 20, 2002 were presented.
--Laurel Airport Authority minutes of April 23, 2002 were presented.
The mayor asked if there was any separation of consent items. There was none.
Motion by Alderman Olson to approve the consent items as presented, seconded by
Alderman Poehls. Motion carded 8-0.
COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS (ONE-MINUTE LIMIT): None.
CEREMONIAL CALENDAR: None.
SCHEDULED MATTERS:
Council Minutes of June 4, 2002
· Confirmation of Appointments: None.
· Ordinance No. 002-30: Ordinance amending Chapter 17.28 of the Laurel Municipal
Code relating to Airport Zoning. Second reading.
Motion by Alderman Dart to adopt Ordinance No. 002-30, seconded by Alderman Oakes. A
roll call vote was taken on the motion. All eight aldermen voted aye. Motion carried 8-0.
ITEMS REMOVED FROM TIlE CONSENT AGENDA: None.
AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION (THREE-MINUTE LIMIT): None.
COUNCIL DISCUSSION:
The council discussion was held during the City Council Committee of the Whole meeting.
UNSCHEDULED MATTERS:
Mayor Johnson announced that June 19th is the deadline for agenda items for the Joint City/County
Meeting of June 27th.
There being no further business to come before the council at this time, the meeting was adjourned at
7:06 p.m.
