Mark called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. Discussion was held reviewing the
questions and answers from EBMS. Mark mentioned that he read that a 25-30% industry
increase can be expected, nation-wide. The Union favors the EBMS proposal as long as
it is identical to the currant plan.
Timing was discussed as length. If the city chose to change carders in February or
March, but want a renewal date of July 1~t, can the premiums quoted be locked in for 15
months? EBMS will be contacted and asked that question.
A copy of the current contract with Blue Cross/Blue Shield will be sent to EBMS to
review, and then the committee would like to have Shane Heigis come back and discuss
the details.
The union representatives asked if there was a new provider directory available. It seems
there are problems with optometrists that are with YCI-I~, but not with BC/BS. Mary will
make sure the new directories are distributed.
The next meeting will be sometime in January.
