SIX 1? d L A U f9 E L It has come to my attention that many of you are unaware of the assistance that may be available through the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF). Since 1965 the LWCF, administered in Montana by the Department of Fish, Wildlife, and Parks, has been the principal source of federal funds for acquiring new recreation lands and the development of local parks and public recreational facilities. Walt Timmerman, of the Parks Division of the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife, and Parks currently manages the LWCF. There are presently over $600,000 dollars available for release throughout the state, and it is my goal that every community has an opportunity to participate and benefit from access to these grants. In response, i have directed my staff to organize several seminars throughout the state to assist you with the grant process and to better inform you of the funds that are available through the LWCF. Walt Timmerman has generously agreed to assist my staff by conducting these seminars. He will discuss the LWCF and offer assistance with the grant writing process through a hands-on approach using several sample grants. If you have any additional need of assistance, please contact my Washington D.C. office at 202-225-3211 or contact my state office at 1-888- 232-2626.
