Montana's enhancement program began in Federal Fiscal Year 1992 and has provided for the implementation of a variety of non-traditional projects that are designed to strengthen the cultural, aesthetic, and environmental aspects of Montana's intermodal transportation system. The focus of these activities is to improve the transportation experience in and through local communities. In the first ten years the MDT has allocated to local governments $44.7 million federal dollars. In the same period $40.3 million federal dollars (90.3%) have been obligated to 457 projects throughout the state. Of the $44.7 million allocated the MDT has reimbursed local government a total of $26.2 million (58.7%). We look forward to working with the participating local agencies in the continuing enhancement program. If you have questions, please give me a call at 406.444.4383 or Tom Martin at 406.444.0809.
