ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2.96.260
OF THE LAUREL MUNICIPAL CODE
RELATING TO RETIREMENT REQUIREMENTS.
WHEREAS, changes have been recommended to bring the Laurel City Code into
compliance with state laws; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the residents of the City of Laurel to pass such an
ordinance;
IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Laurel, Montana, that the
LAUREL MUNICIPAL CODE is hereby amended as is set forth below.
Chapter 2.96.260 shall be amended as follows:
2.96.260 Retirement requirements.
A. Personnel may retire from city duty at the age of sixty-five and the day of such retirement
shall be at the end of the city fiscal year in which their sixty-fifth birthday is attained.
B. It is further provided, that seasonal or part-time employees over the age of sixty-five, upon
determination by the city physician that said personnel are physically able to perform the normal duties
during each city fiscal year, may be employed by the mayor without approval from the council to perform
duties as directed by the department supervisors.
C. The provisions of this section shall not apply to elected officers of the city. (Prior code §
2.32.300)
This ordinance shall become effective thirty (30) days after final passage by the City
council and approved by the Mayor.
Introduced and passed on first reading at a regular meeting of the City Council on
February 19 , 2002, by Alderman Van Roekel .
PASSED and ADOPTED by the Laurel City Council on second reading this 19th day
