COUNCIL CHAMBERS MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Bud Johnson Lauren Van Roekel Ken Olson Gay Easton Dan Mears Doug Poehls Mark Mace Daniel Dart John Oakes OTHERS PRESENT: Matt Erekson Larry McCann Terry Ruff Cai Cumin Jeanette Koch explained the residential water and sewer rates. A copy of the information presented is included with these minutes. Water and sewer charges are almost equal at 700 cubic feet of usage, but sewer charges exceed water charges after that point because the per unit charge is higher. Sewer charges are determined by actual meter readings from November l0th through April 10th. From May l0th to October 10th, the sewer charge is based on an average that is determined by dividing the total consumption of the six winter months by six. Each individual account has its own average, and the average is figured each year. Things such as a leaky toilet or a water softener system could cause an increase in charges. She also explained that the schools axe charged sewer and water rates from August to June, and the sewer charges are set on 10% of the ten-month usage for July and August. Jeanette encouraged the council to call her with any questions. Mayor Johnson thanked Jeanette for the information. Larry McCann explained that only two responses were received from the request for proposals for design and construction of the second water intake. After reviewing the RFP, the Corps of Engineers determined that the RFP was correct and that the proposal from HKM Engineering was complete. The $400,000 Corps of Engineers grant provides for oversight of the project. The dratt contract from HKM will be reviewed to ensure that the design is completed specifically for the second intake at this location for the City of Laurel, instead of copying a design from another location. Mayor Johnson thanked Larry for the information. Since Don Meyers was unable to attend the council meeting, the two agenda items regarding the home occupation request at his residence will be delayed until March 19th. The meeting adjourned at 6:44 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Cindy Allen Council Secretary CITY I-tALL l15W. 1ST ST.
