ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 1.28.040 OF THE LAUREL MUNICIPAL CODE
RELATING TO IMPLEMENTATION OF TECHNICAL CODES.
WHEREAS, changes have been recommended to bring the Laurel City Code into
compliance with state laws; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the residents of the City of Laurel to pass such an
ordinance;
IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Laurel, Montana, that the
LAUREL MUNICI?AL CODE is hereby amended as is set forth below.
CHAPTER 1.28.040 shall be amended as follows:
1.28.040 Technical codes.
A. The governing body of the city may adopt technical building, zoning, health,
electrical, fire and plumbing codes in whole or in part by reference. At least thirty days prior to
final action by the council, notice of intent to adopt a technical code in whole or in part by
reference shall be published in a newspaper of general circulation in the city and three copies of
the code, or part to be adopted, shall be filed with the city clerk-treasurer for inspection by the
public.
This ordinance shall become effective thirty (30) days after final passage by the City
council and approved by the Mayor.

PASSED and ADOPTED by the Laurel City Council on second reading this 5th day
of February ,2002, uponmotion of Alderman van Roekel
