ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 1.24.020 OF THE LAUREL MUNICIPAL CODE
RELATING TO EXECUTION OF FINE.
WHEREAS, changes have been recommended to bring the Laurel City Code into
compliance with state laws; and
WI-IEREAS, it is in the best interests of the residents of the City of Laurel to pass such an
ordinance;
IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Laurel, Montana, that the
LAUREL MUNIC~AL CODE is hereby amended as is set forth below.
CHAPTER 1.24.020 shall be amended as follows:
1.24.020 Execution of fine - Imprisonment when.
A. If the judgment is for a fine alone, execution may issue thereon as a judgment in a
civil case.
B. If the judgment is for a fine and imprisonment until fine be paid, the defendant must
be committed to the custody of the proper officer, and by him detained until the judgment is
complied with. The imprisonment must not exceed one day for every fifty dollars of the fine. (Prior
code § 1.16.040)
This ordinance shall become effective thirty (30) days after final passage by the Cky council
and approved by the Mayor.
