Joe Leckie Larry McCann Mary Embleton Rick Musson Cal Cumin Jan Faught Gary Temple thanked Larry McCann for all the work he has done for the city. Gary received a complaint regarding the dip at 2nd Street and 6th Avenue. In past years, there was some opposition to putting in a culvert at this location, but some of the neighbors want a culvert now. Larry will check on the matter and take it to the Public Works Committee. Mark Mace has received favorable comments on the concrete that was poured in the park area by the concession stand. Bud Johnson questioned the rescheduling of the July 4th council meeting. The mayor stated that the council needed to take action for an alternate date under unscheduled matters during the council meeting. Lauren Van Roekel received a phone call regarding the public hearing for the garbage rate increase. The constituent was unable to attend the meeting and did not provide a letter, but Lauren will convey the thoughts to the council during the public hearing. Gary Temple reminded the council of the Laurel Revitalization League meeting on June 8th at 6:30 p.m. at Western Security Bank. Police Chief Rick Musson stated that they are still in the process of hiring a full-time dispatcher. One dispatcher's father is in the hospital, and she needs time oft The last day of school was busy and the summer is also busy for the Police Department. Larry McCann mentioned that Bill Feller was admitted to the hospital with back problems on Saturday, and he will return to work next Sunday. Andy Loebe is having quadruple bypass surgery on Wednesday and will be oft for a length of time. The 5th Avenue Project is ahead of schedule. The railroad will start rebuilding the tracks and move the crossing arms on Monday, and this should only take a week. When the railroad is finished, our contractor will have 17 days to complete the project. The road will be gravel and will be open over the 4th of July. The South Pond project is progressing. Traffic barricades will be installed to keep the area closed to vehicles. The contractor should be done by the end of the month. Mayor Rodgers suggested installing No Vehicle signs at South Pond. A meeting is scheduled for June 28th at 11:00 a.m. with all regulators on our bend way weir project. The environmental groups, the Department of Transportation and Burlington Northern Railroad have been invited to the meeting. The regulators have offered a proposal to put in four bend way weirs but we want to put in only one. Roger Perkins is available for assistance with the project. Water line replacement on the east end of town, particularly Elm to Date on Fifth Street, will start soon. In order to save money, our crews will be doing the work for this seven-block area. The sweeper is out in the residential neighborhoods starting at 7:00 a.m. Larry has received two complaints regarding this. Hydrants are being flushed and directional flow tested west of 1st and north of 7~h between 11:00 p.m and 7:00 a.m. This will continue until the water line project begins.
