HomeMy WebLinkAboutLaurel Urban Renewal Agency Minutes 11.17.2014 MINUTES Laurel Urban Renewal Agency (LURA) November 17, 2014, Laurel Public Library meeting room Meeting was called to order by Chair Judy Goldsby. Roll call/Attendance: Quorum of voting members present: Shirley McDermott, Linda Frickel Advisory board members: Mardie Spalinger, Sara Hudson(BSED rep.). Marcia Hafner(Chamber of Commerce), Steve Zeier(Zeier Consulting), Lauren Waterton(Sanderson Stewart), Steve Solberg, Rick Herr. Shirley Ewan, Heidi Jensen and Monica Plecker, City of Laurel. No introductions. October, 2014 minute's approval was delayed until a quorum was present and was then unanimously approved as submitted. Old Business: Lauren Waterton distributed and discussed in detail the Gateway Plan implementation matrix. The plan includes a one-page summary with three categories, infrastructure(8 projects), business recruitment and retention(5 projects) and placemaking(3 projects) with further explanations. The Traffic/Transportation Study will be distributed at the December, 2014 meeting. Monica Plecker has asked for comments by 12/08/14 on the Design Standards draft. The Planning Board will also submit comments. City staff at our October 20th meeting distributed a draft of the Large Grant Requests program. Members were asked to review the draft and be prepared to discuss/vote at the December meeting. New Business: Monica Plecker and Heidi Jensen will attend a planning conference in Scottsdale, AZ and report back to the Board. The board should expect a façade improvement request from Reese/Ray to be discussed at the December meeting. Reports: Zeier Consulting: Steve Zeier will submit his report via email. Clerk Treasurer: A balance of$561,078 in the account. Outstanding debt of $419,838.75, which will be paid up January, 2019. Big Sky Economic Development: They have a call in to Jim Lewis, MRL and BNS. Sara Hudson discussed future planning efforts on behalf of LURA. Public Comment: Several individuals gave updates on business changes and developments in the downtown TIF district. Next meeting: January 15, 2015
