Otto J. Preikszas, Exec. Secty (City Rep.) Gerald Shay, Member at Large Ed LaPrath (County Rep.) James Seaton (County Rep.) Bus Roberts (City Rep.) members absent: R. M. Williams, Vice Pres. (County Rep.) Kenneth Christian (County Rep.) Tom Bradley (City Rep.) Mary McCormick (City Rep.) Jim Straw (County Rep.) also present: John MacMartin, Cumin Assoc., Billings Doug Hart, Cumin Assoc., Billings T. Curtis McKenzie, City Engineer Mrs. E. L. Roberts reporter Minutes approved as sent out. Bills approved for payment: Eng. /Bldg. Department for Administrative Services $200.00. SIGN ORDINANCE: Old sign ordinance explained by John MacMartin. P fr - ' -- .. -,,... .. No- -- Discussion with Shay, Roberts, and Preikszas favoring overhang so signs could be used by motorists and even pedestrians. Preikszas said he is not in favor of forcing changes in signs but as businesses change or a sign is destroyed by accident - -new signs should be in compliance with ordinances. PARKS REPORT: Douglas Hart discussed Pond Park. Fish and Game stock it annually with rainbow trout because of winter kill. Fish and Game does not know much about water quality except pH. Aspect of general water recreation has drawback of hazard to city insurance wise. Idea is not to fill edges much more than already exists. Skating potential. Pathway may be used for walking. Pond water exchange with groundwater unknown. Board discussed fishery, parking, no boating, no swimming, pier. Hart will pursue fishing, picnicing, parking. No names yet for parks. -1- minutes of Planning Board January 10, 1980 For reference: Casa Linda area, in plans No. 5, baseball, major league and little league, parking, drainage will remain as an attraction diagonally through park. Hart's general layout approved. Fields may be used for football and soccer in season. 25 parking inside park. Hart will juggle to try to get more parking. Murray Park location as presented has 10 tennis courts on 3.43 acres, No. 8 in Laurel Planning Data Book. At this time Bus Roberts suggested basketball courts and board backed up to include them in No. 5. Hart suggested the park be designed in part and improved as we get a feel for use. Hart discussed trees and get a volunteer group to plant trees. Hart will design fewer courts, maybe a ball field, basketball courts, and discuss this park with Sue Carter.
