Floodplain
Larry explained that the city applied about a year ago for a DNRC grant for a floodplain
study. The floodplain map currently available was drawn up in 1982. Community input from
residents is needed for a floodplain study that would result in a flood reaction plan for the City
of Laurel. If the city applies for any floodplain related grants, a floodplain plan must be in
place. The low RFP bidder for the study was Montana Engineering and Administration
(ME&A). Larry asked the committee to recommend a resolution for the council to authorize
the mayor to sign a contract with ME&A for a floodplain study.
Motion by Bill Staudinger to recommend to the council to have ME&A complete a floodplain
study for the City of Laurel, seconded by Mark Mace. Motion carried.
