Several leaders of your community are in the process of organizing a
Kiwanis club for the City of Laurel that will participate in community
service, focused on the needs of our youth. Kiwanis clubs around the
world provide needed services for the youth under its Young Children:
Priority One agenda and many other programs.
This new club in Laurel will participate by developing projects that
address the needs of local children as well as other programs the
membership feel deserving. We will petition Kiwanis International for
official charter once we have the required 25 committed local members.
The slogan of Kiwanis is "Serving the Children of the World." The
international organization is made up of 13,000 clubs in more than 75
nations with a third of a million members and 86 years of experience.
The sponsored youth groups of Kiwanis makes up the worlds largest group
of it's type, teaching the values of civic service thought K-Kids,
Builders Clubs, Key Clubs in High School and Circle K International at
the college level.
Kiwanis is designed for individuals who desire personal involvement in a
leadership role to improve their communities. As a businessperson I'm
sure you recognize the value of the association with others in your
community to achieve common goals. Kiwanians are valued because the
focus of the organization is on our youth, and that is a priority of the
greatest value. -- - --
Membership in a Kiwanis club will give you the chance to meet other
local business people and concerned community leaders. It also will give
you an opportunity to contribute to the community improvement.
Please review the enclosed brochure, we will have local Kiwanis club
members personally contact you on the days of December 18-20 to discuss
our plans and how the new club can benefit you and the community
