Board Meeting Minutes
The Meeting was held on August 14th, 2014 at the Chamber. In attendance were: Executive Board
Members: President - Christy Williams, VP- Molly Conrad, and Executive Chamber Secretary - Marcia Hafner.
Directors: Holly Anderson, Heidi Jensen, Don Woerner, Wendy Means, and Assistant Chamber Secretary -
Carrie Preller.
Christy called the meeting to order.
The minutes were approved: moved to approve - Molly, 2nd - Wendy.
The financial report was approved - Monna Rae, 2"d - Holly. Bills were presented for payment and moved to
approve - Holly, 2"d - Monna Rae.
Old BUSINESS
• Organization Pot Luck - Carrie will contact a few organizations for people willing to be
on the committee. Marcia will head the committee.
• New Board Members - Marcia secured signatures from new board members.
• Chamber Building Improvements - Bids have been requested for the roof from 2
different contacts recommended by Alpha- Omega. Heidi brought up that we need to visit
our lease agreement with the city to see if they will help with this cost. She will pursue
this information.
New BUSINESS
• New Members - A+ Accounting and Consulting, Mike Wombolt was recognized as a new
member.
• Yellowstone court appointed advocates - It was approved to include their ad in our
newsletter - Wendy, 2nd - Monna Rae.
• Montana Hospitality Council - It was decided that we already receive all the benefits
they offer and do not need to be on this council.
• Montana Voice of Tourism Reception - This will take place Thursday, September 4
from 5 to 7. Holly and Marcia are interested, if their schedules will allow them to attend.
• Laurel Flag - Richard Klouse from the American Legion approached Marcia with the
request for the Chamber to yearly donate $149 to help replace the local flag with a new
one, once a year. This flag will be good for about 3 months and other groups will provide
the other months. This was approved - Monna Rae, 2 - Heidi.
• Montana Speaker Bureau - The Chamber was asked to sponsor a speaker. This idea
was tabled until there was more information on the speaker.
Ribbon Cuttings - There will be a ribbon cutting on Monday, August 18 at 12:30 for
Winterholler's new building. Molly, Holly, Don, Wendy, Marcia, and Carrie will attend.
OPEN FORUM
• LURA - Site plans will go to the City for their October meeting. LURA would like to
promote a local revolving loan program or financial incentives to businesses. LURA will be
encouraging the local banks to attend a meeting so the banks can provide their services in
this area.
• Web Site - Holly brought up redoing the web site. She contacted the Miles City Chamber,
and they stated we can go about this any way we choose as we do not receive government
funding. She suggested we look into a TBID tax to help fund our chamber.
• Farmers' Market - Wendy inquired as to why the Farmers' Market is on a Wednesday
from 4 to 6 when many people cannot attend. Christy suggested the vendors be surveyed
to determine if there was a better time and day.
• Business after Hours -.
o September - Wood's 50t Anniversary Open House, September 5 6 -9.
Alpha -Omega Open House - No date has been set.
o October - Christmas to Remember - Date is needed.
o November - Laurel Outlook - Date is needed.
o December - Chamber Holiday Open House.
