HomeMy WebLinkAboutLaurel Chamber of Commerce (29) Laurel Chamber of Commerce Board Meeting Minutes The Meeting was held on July 24, 2014 at the Chamber. In attendance were: Executive Board Members: President - Christy Williams, VP- Molly Conrad, Co -VP - Amanda Frye. Directors: Holly Anderson, Wendy Means, Monna Rae Adickes, Don Woemer, and Assistant Chamber Secretary - Carrie Preller. Members: Emily IGnzie- Ivanovitch. Christy called the meeting to order. The minutes were approved: moved to approve - Amanda, 2n - Molly. The finandal report was approved and bills were presented for payment: moved to approve - Holly, 2n - Wendy. It was also approved that Molly has possession of Christy's key to the Chamber - Monna Rae, 2n - Amanda and Don. Old BUSINESS • Last meetings vote o The power, water, Internet, and phone bill will automatically be approved at every meeting even without a quorum. This was voted on and approved through emails with the board. o Changing to a monthly board meeting until next summer was approved. The meeting will take place on the second Thursday of each month. Moved to approve - Molly, 2 — Monna Rae. • Shrine East /West Tailgate report - Note from the vendor was shared with the board. • July 4th - Positive feedback was shared from a visitor and a participant in the parade. The point was made that 1st Avenue needs to be lined with trash cans to help curb the amount of trash thrown on the ground, and a possibility of a sponsorship to acquire better signs for the parade route. There was discussion on contacting a marching band organization in Colorado or other places for next year and possibly changing the time of the parade due to the heat. This was met with discussion of needing more volunteers and talking with the Jaycees. • Organization Pot Luck - Christy informed that Howard Rickard was willing to be on the committee in a support capacity but did not want to be in charge. She asked for volunteers from the board. There was discussion and questions concerning the committee but no volunteers. Christy will contact other people to be on the committee. New BUSINESS • New Board Member - Don Woerner was introduced. He shared that he wanted to be more involved in the community and this was a good opportunity provided he had ample time after the results of the election. MoIIy asked if he could fill the director position that would end in January. Don's position was approved. Moved to approve - MoIIy, 2 nd - Christy. • Chamber Building Improvements - It was discussed that the Chamber needs to repair its roof, update the web site, and paint the outside of the building. For the roof and web site, quotes will be sought from Chamber members before the next meeting. For the outside of the Building, the local Boy Scouts will be asked if they would like to take that on as a project. Ribbon Cuttings - There were none but Emily from Em's Bodyworks expressed interest in doing this. Christy asked her to schedule this with the Chamber secretary.
