HomeMy WebLinkAboutLaurel Chamber of Commerce (28) Laurel Chamber of Commerce Board Meeting Minutes The Meeting was held on July 10t 2014, at Guadalajara's. In attendance were: Executive Board Members: President - Christy Williams, Treasurer - Molly Conrad, and Chamber Secretary - Marcia Hafner. Directors: Heidi Jensen, Donnie McVee, and assistant chamber secretary - Carrie Pre ller. Members: Ken Olsen & Paul Lechner- Al Bedoo Shrine, Monica Plecker -City of Laurel and Tim Bronk - Laurel Public Schools. Christy called the meeting to order. There was not a quorum to approve the minutes, financial report, and bills. It was derided an email would be sent out to the directors to approve them. It was proposed that at the next meeting a vote be taken to allow all bills within the budget, like utilities, be paid without a vote. Old BUSINESS • Committee Reports o July 4th - Did not have any issues with same day registrations. We need to step up our advertising in Billings. Line up for the parade would work better with a single line rather than two lines. It was brought up as to why the parade goes past Laurel Health & Rehab. and not straight up 1st Ave. Monica brought up that the cell phone tower has to go through city council approval, so we need to start that process earlier. o Bylaws - Committee date not set yet. Molly will contact the committee. o Scholarship - Put off until October. o Shriners East /West - Committee date not needed. Everything on track. Volunteers were lined up to help with marking the spots on Friday. • New Board Members - Need to replace one board member. New BUSINESS • New Members - Em's Bodywork, a massage therapist. • Organization Pot Luck - A committee is needed; possibly Christy, Annie, Marcia, and Howard. Christy would like to have this in September. Judy, at the city, may be able to help with the list. Ribbon Cuttings None OPEN FORUM • Lura - Ice cream social went very well and there was a good turnout. Marcia reported on some of the results from the survey. • Grants - Jennifer from the Outlook suggested we look into grants to do a fall festival, possibly bring back the October Fest. • Business After Hours -. o August - o September - Alpha -Omega Open House Sept. 5 - Woods 50 Anniversary Open House o October - Christmas to Remember o November - Laurel Outlook Next meeting - July 24th 2014, Chamber Loa Cabin Laurel Chamber of Commerce July 24th, 2014 at the Chamber Log Cabin Moment of Silence Presentation of minutes: Guest Speaker - Financial Report - Yellowstone Checking - $ 29,138.99 Altana Checking $ 25.00 Altana Saving $ 722.16 Christmas Repair Fund $ 2,956.79 TOTAL $ 32,842.94 Bills to be presented for payment: - MDU $ 14.78 Century Link $ 70.04 Laurel Outlook (Farmers Market) $ 104.25 Ace Hardware - tape & run bags $ 10.98 The Outpost (July 4th ad) $ 97.00 OLD BUSINESS • Last meetings vote Approve minutes and finances. o Vote on what needs to be approved for payment. o Vote on going to a monthly meeting until next summer. • Shrine East /West Tailgate report- note from vendor. • Organization Pot luck - Need a committee chair and to set a meeting date. NEW BUSINESS - • New Board Member - Introduce and vote on Don Woemer. Ribbon Cuttings None OPEN FORUM - • LURA - Lots of information, save for the next meeting so Marcia can report.
