COUNCIL CHAMBERS MEMBERS PRESENT: Chuck Dickerson Bill Mountsier Mary Carter Dan Koch Richard Herr Emelie Eaton OTHERS PRESENT: Kelly Strecker Kurt Markegard Mark Mace Public Input: None Republic Service- Commercial Waste Solutions: Julia Jones from Republic Services came to speak about recycling; she stated that they recycle aluminum, metal, paper, plastic and cardboard. She handed out brochures to the committee on proposed services to the City. They offer 30 yard containers, as well as curb side recycling. The City would have to change their ordinances in order to allow Republic Services to come into the city to pick up curb side recycling. Kurt stated that the only thing the City ordinance allows to be recycled at this time is cardboard. Julia stated that the price for a 30 yard container is $90.00 per ton if the City uses its own container and hauls to their site. Curb side recycling is $12.00 per month picked up twice. If Republic Services supplies the containers, there is a $30.00 rental charge and it's $265.00 for the container which includes disposal. Richard made a motion to recommend to the council to consider changing the ordinance to allow recycling in the City. Bill seconded the motion. Motion carried 6 -0. Update on septic storage tank: Kurt supplied the committee with a plan view of the septic holding tank. The curb and gutter will need to be modified to allow haulers to pull up to the tank to unload. This will be a concrete tank that will hold 5 to 6 thousand gallons of sewage. Kurt stated that only one truck will be able to unload at a time. Kurt supplied the committee with a list of local licensed haulers. He stated that the tanks will have to be tested to make sure there are live bugs in the tank before dumping into the City sewer tanks. Mary made a motion to recommend to the council to proceed with the sewer septic storage tank. Dan seconded the motion. Motion carried 6 -0.
